Normally, I'm an outdoors, natural light, simplistic setting type of photographer. I like room to be able to move and I love, love chasing the light. But I've been craving getting into more lifestyle type sessions in homes. I think it makes it personal, intimate, and captures a family in their element. So when I suggested to Kyle and Katie to do a maternity session in their home, I was so pumped when they were game for it.
When I walked into their quaint, little, carefully decorated home with items of meaning and handmade, I felt a sense of peace and love. I literally gasped when I saw the crib Kyle made in the nursery and in the dining room was a painting Katie has been working on for such time.
I can't wait to go back and take pictures when baby boy comes. And I'm looking forward to more shoots in homes, doing what families do. Playing together. Drinking a cup of coffee. Being who they are in their element.
